Hi Everybody!

Hello from Kansas, USA! My name is Laura and my mother taught me to knit and crochet when I was about 7, 8, 9 and 10 years old. heh Short attention span as a child I guess! Later on I picked up crochet in my late teens due to my love of all things "old fashioned" and my need (yes - NEED) for crocheted doilies. So my first real crochet work was with thread, not yarn! The rest is all history.

I've really admired Vera's passion for both knit and crochet and the versatility she's shown with the projects on her blog. Thanks Vera for encouraging the rest of us to combine and work on projects that combine both knitting and crochet! I'm really looking forward to browsing patterns and deciding if my knit-crochet-along project will be big like a garment, or small like a scarf or shawl. Decisions decisions!

Hi. My name is Beverly and I blog at Fiberitis. I live in Columbia, SC and taught myself to knit and crochet many years ago at the age of 13. For the past several years I have knitted exclusively and my use of crocheting has been limited to that needed for trimming knitted items.

I haven't decided on a project. I'll browse the links and check out some books in the next week or so. Thanks Vera for hosting this CAL/KAL.

Knitting Loves Crochet Review

The book came in today. Great stuff. Check out my review here.
Hi, I'm Vicki and my blog is here. I do both, crochet and knit, but I don't know what project to work on yet. It looks like Vera has some sites already set up. It will be fun to pick one! Maybe a smaller project like a bag, scarf , or socks!

Here's one that's really cool, from the Interweave website under needlework, http://www.interweave.com/needle/projects/knitting.asp Knit ribbed Scarf with crocheted edging .

Hi I'm Heather.

I live in southern Utah and blog at Cluttering My Couch. I've also crocheted since I was a child and have been knitting for 4-5 years, still a novice at that. I don't know what I'm going to do yet for this project but it just sounded like fun to combine both knit and crochet. I'm excited!

Knitting in Norway

Hi, My name is Silja, I live in the eastern part of Norway. I have my blog at www.silja-devine.com
I both knit and crochet, so I will have a project here containg both tecniques. I have no clue how long I have been knitting or crocheting...I learned it when i was about 10 years old.... and have loved it ever since.

My project for this project is a tunic for my dauhgter that has a crochet upper piece and a cableknitted skirt. I have the sketch inside my head. I am not sure what kind of yarn I will use yet, but I would like to make it in cotton or a cotton/acrylic blend,

Welcome to the CAL/KAL!

My name is Vera. I live in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, and my blog is Vera's Crafty Blog.

I've crocheted since childhood, and I picked my knitting back up three years ago, and I love both crafts.

I've thought about hosting a joint crocheting and knitting along for a while now, and when I saw the beautiful Candi Jensen book Knitting Loves Crochet, that was the spark I needed. I picked up the book just because of the title. It just struck me as beautiful, and I like many of the projects in the book.

I don't want to have too many rules for the CAL/KAL, but here are some guidelines...
  1. The CAL/KAL will run from October 1st to December 31, 2006
  2. If you primarily crochet, knit something
  3. If you primarily knit, crochet something
  4. If you do a bit of both, try a project that has both
  5. If you'd like to learn to either knit or crochet, give it a try. I'll post some resources with instructions and projects. What project you choose is up to you.
  6. If you are interested in joining, leave a comment.

Here are some buttons I made. I'm new to button making, and I plan to make more. Please host them to your own server.

Please introduce yourself, and tell us about your knitting and/or crocheting experience as well as what project(s) you'll work on. I should have the book soon, and there are a couple of really cute boleros I'd like to try.
